About

Ahalya Nair is the Founder and Director of The Mind Traverse, bringing together her interests in psychology, clinical and developmental neuropsychology, counselling, research and neurorehabilitation.

She holds a First Class BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology, alongside a Professional Diploma in Training and Counselling. She is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society and is also a hypnotist with an interest in hypnotism.

Her clinical experience includes work within an NHS Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service, where she was involved in cognitive baseline assessments, clinical documentation, rehabilitation planning and multidisciplinary work with people experiencing acquired and traumatic brain injuries.

Her research experience spans child cognition, neuropsychological assessment and quantitative research. Her postgraduate research explored the role of verbal ability, non verbal reasoning and rapid naming in predicting reading fluency and spelling accuracy in primary school children.

Ahalya is particularly interested in thoughtful, individualised support that considers the whole person rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or presenting difficulty. Her work brings together psychological knowledge, neuropsychological thinking, research, counselling and her knowledge of hypnotism.

“Still waiting for someone to ask whether hypnosis involves swinging a pocket watch and reading minds.”
